Think Anew, Act Anew

observations and opinion

this is how we live

acorns

this is how we live
apart, across a divide
split like an apple

the core cleaved, the seeds
fall on frozen ground where no
ghost of life will greet

their bursting hopeful
shells. And the seeds will be as
stones themselves, lifeless

this is how we live
alone, surrounded with sounds
too familiar

yours echo in the
hollow of a glacier
trembling in the north

mine follow me south
to fields of fallen soldiers
buried by poets

this is how we live
like acorns tumbling, rolling
soft upon the green

mighty oaks trapped
inside their stones, born to fall
and then die dreaming

of the earth that might
have been a cradle, to
what they held within

this is how we live
